I'm surprised at how nice it looks!
+1, it really does look nice.

I've been seeing some really nice Squiers lately. I'm becoming more & more convinced that all I need is a pimped Squier & it will get me through. A Squier CVP & a Bill Lawrence or some aftermarket pup. Or a 50s P with an SD Antiquity II. Seriously, I have no business playing an expensive instrument.

Cool basses. Cool bridges. Reminds me of Lakland bridges.

Thanks.
The bridges are Hipshot Vintage Bass Bridges.
They make changing strings a lot easier.

Waiting on my DR Marcus Miller Fat Beams to get here and I'll be one step close to finishing my Squier VM V.

Nice job. I think the red ones seem to have the best paint on them.

Finished? Squier Precision Bass Special. Who knows, I might change something again!! I bought it with Basslines installed, I changed the pickguard, added LP knobs, ashtray and pickup cover. I just defretted it and applied 4 coats of poly. Body is banged up and naturally reliced.

I just scored this today, with case for $120! I think it's an '09, but definitely built in indonesia. Plastic still on the pickguard!

Can anyone suggest what tuners fit well with this bass? I have never really modded anything, but this is a great place to start!

My last build got Highway One tuners from an Amazon retailer. Good budget tuners.

what's wrong with the ones on it?

they are 1/2 inch standard fender tuners (mim, hwy 1). you could go with hipshot ultralites, thats what im getting.

They seem really loose. Just not very "solid" feeling.

1/2" standard fender tuners.. cool. The Hwy 1 was never a 5-string model with a 4+1 headstock, or was it? I can't remember Fender doing that. I'd have to get 4+1 tuner set for this right? 5 inline would or would not work?

inline tuners are smaller. there isnt a 5 string hwy1, but the tuners are the right size. hipshot makes a direct replacement or for a few bucks more per tuner you can go to hipshot ultralites.
