Tried search function and.... I know a mm neck willnot fit a fender bass, but does anybody know of a aftermarket stingray type neck that will fit a fender? I cant afford a stingray at the moment but i miss it bad. Thanks in advance |
That would depend on the neck in question. If it's a complete drop in MM Stingray neck, no. The neck pocket is not even remotely the same as a Fender. Slapping a Stingray neck onto a P or a J isn't going to give you a Stingray. It's going to give you a P or a J with a Stingray type neck. In the case of a newer P, it'll basically be the same exact instrument only with a different headstock shape. If you want a Stingray sound, you need the MM pickup and MM preamp. If you want a neck that feels similar, there are a ton of aftermarket options for unfinished and oiled necks. |
Not looking for stingray sound. Just the feel of the neck |
Grab a maple neck with your choice of fretboard material and have it finished with Tru Oil. Check out Warmoth, USA Guitars, Mighty Mite, Allparts That's assuming you want to replicate one of the oiled necks. |
If I remember good enough PB and Stingray have the same scale (34"), so there wont be a problem over here. The problem is with the neck pocket - the MM neck is wider, so you'll have to make bigger pocket, and additional holes, to bolt it on. If you are out of big money, you can search for a chinese made MM neck, and Precision body, just to see if you can make it, and if the results do satisfy you. If yes, you can always sell the newly made guitar, and buy a standart MM neck for your Fender. |
