Hey guys, looking to purchase a Smith within the next 3 months, how much should I look to spend for a 6 string?

Depends on a lot of things like : neck through or bolt on; woods used in the bass and for the fretboard; 9v or 18 volt pre, body style; etc. Personally, I like them quite a bit but you really should, if there is any chance of it at all, try a few. I know it's tough with such a rare/high end bass, but if you can you absolutely should or make sure you get a return policy with your used bass.

Go search the classifieds for them and you'll see what people were asking and possibly what they paid for it.

I say $3K and you can probably pick one up for $2,500 if you look and are patient.
