I just did a search on Guitar Center and found a few used Squiers for you. The nine digit number is the item. Squier White 60's CV Jazz $199 108533041 108648886 108509630 108550446 Squier Nat VM Jazz $199 108374179 108642844 108549526 108639013 108653724 108632786 Squier Sunburst VM Jazz $199 108666387 108634677 108649979 Best thing about buying used from Guitar Center is that you can return to any store for a refund for 30 days if you need to. All I can tell you is that I love mine, but then again, I bought it new. |
Four or five string? $240 sounds high for a used VMJ four but in the right price range for a pristine used VMJ-5. |
I got mine with a discount, if you wait, you can grab one new for $20 more after taxes. If you order from guitar center, you can have it shipped to the store, and if your not happy, refuse it and they send a new one. |
Sounds high. I paid $140 for mine. Love it. Craigslist. |
Mine came new from MF yesterday. Looking it over closely today I noticed that the neck pickup isn't centered- it's offset towards the G string so that the E is barely over the outside polepiece?? None of the strings are centered between the two polepieces. Anyone elses? |
Oldleftybass, I bet the bridge is slightly offset. |
I have six of the VM Squier Jazz basses that I bought used and the MOST I paid for one of them is $200. The rest I got for $125 to $150 on Craigslist. $240 is too much. Great basses! |

I'm only using it at home, and I plan on replacing the bridge PU with a P-style, so is it a big deal at all? |
if you can intonate it, it doesn't run off the fretboard, and doesn't cause your OCD to flame up, no. :-) Bob |

heh, heh, heh.... |
Just curious, what percentage of Squires or MIM Fenders do you all think remain unmodified? |
So no big deal? Strings are centered on neck, bridge appears to be in the right place. Full disclosure: I only play at home, might replace neck pickup anyway with a P at some point. ![]() |
That doesn't look too bad to me. You can always try a set of Fender vintage threaded saddles. They are available a lot of places, including here: http://www.guitarpartsresource.com/bass_saddles.htm (Right end of the top and middle rows.) Those will give you the most flexibility to position your strings. Bob |
