2) I can't tell you what it does sonically, compared to a same spec solid body, as it's not here yet. I presume it "rounds it off a bit."

Nino sent me several photos of wood choices for both the top, and the body proper.
I made my choices, but, I didn't think the grain was gonna look as good as it came out....so I dropped the pickguard.
