Okay, I GOTTA ask...why Lakland pickups? Why not Bartolini or SGD or something like that? Just seems weird using a 'competitors' parts, but what do I know?

what's the diff from using Nordstrand or Sadowsky bits then?
I'm sure you can ask for Bart, Ag or SGD and get them, if that's what you like.

When most people think of 'Lakland', they don't think of pickups.

Can't wait for mine to get here.

| | | | Plus, it's a Lakie vibe but with the MM pickup in the MM position, rather than covering the 60's/70's J positions like Lakland does.

| | | | Dang, I just realized, doesn't Nino offer 18mm, and 17.5mm too? So you could get the Lakie vibe with tighter string spacing....
There's that GAS.....

I built one for stock.
I've tried to contact Bartolini a few times over the past few years and unfortunately, they never returned my call.
No one has inquired about SGD but I can get them. |

There's that GAS..... | I made this point over in the Lakland thread when I posted a note on Nino's news. I think it's cool that Nino has this in his arsenal.
Hanson, the group that acquired Lakland last year, has made their pickups and pre for a number of years. In the two basses I have with that setup, I find that the combo is pretty mellow, compared to the edgier Nordy/Aguilar I have in another bass. I originally was going to swap out the LH3 pre, but it has grown on me. Plus, I get to order a P/J with Nordys...and I am pretty sure Nino is going to get that one.
