Vintage Gibson EB3L Bass

Just picked up an old Gibson EB3l,Im trying to find out the year but the Headstock is slotted like the Gibson EBO bass it looks like the original neck but maybe not Im trying to find out the year and its overallworth..Anyone have any ideas???

Slotted headstock is very 1971!

Agreed. The '72 had an elongated solid headstock and thicker unbeveled body. The '71 had the slotted headstock, beveled body and 19 frets IIRC.

Could be as early as '69 (mine is). I think 69-71 is the range for slotted headstocks.

btw, I highly recommend the replacement bridge that Hipshot makes for these.

This ^. Also, if it has USA printed under the S/N, then it's the later (71) likely.

Any pics? I have both EB3L versions... '69-71, and the '72+. I can't decide which I like better. Two similar basses, but certainly different vibes when playing them.
