visual modification?

hey i was considering adding some visual bits to my bass, but i was concerned about the additions affecting the sound of my bass. im going for a steampunk-ish look, so any help is appreciated

Depends what your adding. If your doing steampunk your probably gonna add noticebale weight since they tend to like all sorts of metal gagets and gears added. If your just ading a little bit if stuff, no sound diff. If you cover the bass with all kinds of metal gagets, then you can expect to hurt the sound of wood since it would become a laregly metal bass body.

have somebody paint it to appear the way you want it..much easier IMHO

cool. my bass is a sunburst, with gold hardware, so i was just going to add a few little bits, nothing as drastic as a new paint. thanks for the tips

Good ideas in an old thread.
Steampunk Bass?

Start with bronze hardware and valves for the knobs, it's easy.
