I got the Mesa style tolex after looking through dozens of different styles. This one is the actual guard for that bass, it was cheap enough and I knew I liked it so I went for it. I'd like to make one for my 60th Ann P, but haven't gotten that far yet. Not using the stock guard on that one!! |

That's really neat! How do you have your pickguards done?

The 09 (my anniversary) orange guard is custom from them. I was going for a "Gulf-Racing look". The brick guard on the jazz is from an outfit that I think went out of business. The scriptures are custom decals that are all music-related. The jazz was my main church bass until I switched to a P-bass. I have another brick guard from Greasy Groove but it is too orange for anything I am building at the moment.
The greasygroove site says they are graphics under clear but the clear must be thin because you cannot see it easily. The graphics appear to be on the top.
I also have a cool guard from Axetreme Creations that is clear with the graphics underneath. The clear is thick enough that you can tell it is there.

Reason: corrected the "clear" thing.

I just want to be included. | If this had a matching headstock, I would hunt you down and steal your bass. But it doesn't. So you're safe. For now, | | Thread Tools | Search this Thread | | | |
