I like the idea of cutting out an F hole. Problem with this idea and Clayton's idea on a modern Fender would be that they would expose the CNC guide hole.

Why'd you take it off? It looks great.

I've always liked the Fender confetti picks:

I thought this might make for a cool design on my son's black Fender Jaguar Bass:

Never seen that. Was commenting on a poster in this thread who did a cutout.

Some awesome ideas in here!!!

This was my dad's x-mas gift - 0.093" 6061 aluminum, brite black ano and then engraved:

(after full engraving)

It's fully "shelled" out in back so it actually weighs less than a plastic one!

I biffed this one (see left of pickup) testing this idea out...the idea works, but it didn't have enough hold downs to stay in one piece so I had to abort, haha:

Not a bass, but something I whipped up for my old beater Strat (same as dad's P-bass except no anodizing)

Aluminum under plexiglass

Aluminum under plexiglass. I love the shape and the concept, but it was done by a teenager with, shall we say, less than expert skills. (NO, not me!) When I had the bass refinished, I had this replaced with a stock ivory pickguard, trimmed to approx. the same shape.

that is pretty cool. I wish my mirrored guard was that consistently shiny...and that I had a blue bass to put it on

sticky backed carbon fiber vinyl...sharpie around the edges...it is easy and looks great. And don't forget to change the screws to match...it's all in the details!
