This was my dad's x-mas gift - 0.093" 6061 aluminum, brite black ano and then engraved:
(after full engraving)
It's fully "shelled" out in back so it actually weighs less than a plastic one!
I biffed this one (see left of pickup) testing this idea out...the idea works, but it didn't have enough hold downs to stay in one piece so I had to abort, haha:
Not a bass, but something I whipped up for my old beater Strat (same as dad's P-bass except no anodizing)

Aluminum under plexiglass. I love the shape and the concept, but it was done by a teenager with, shall we say, less than expert skills. (NO, not me!) When I had the bass refinished, I had this replaced with a stock ivory pickguard, trimmed to approx. the same shape. |
