The neck is by Warmoth: Wenge/Pau Ferro, 20 Stainless steel frets.
I carved the body myself out of a single piece of bubinga. Way too heavy so the neck is now paired with a Squier body. That's now my primary bass.

My new '51 style body arrived yesterday. From the showcase. Hopefully the slim taper, graphite rod neck will be finished this week.

Just placed in my order for an all birds-eye maple Jazz neck, with the graphite rods reinforcement and abalone markers. Hope it will be as good as my steel reinforced ones!

Crap...

... Remember when I posted in the previous thread, b|tching about how Warmoth didn't let you use the Custom Configurator to get a side jack in the '72 P-bass?

...well, guess what field just recently (as in, within the past two weeks) showed up in the '72 P-bass Configurator. Yep, that's right-- "Input Jack Rout"

So... would it help if we threw a couple packets of Top Ramen in the shipping box? Heck, what if we used Top Ramen for the packing material. That was one of my primary meals in leaner days......

Just recently finished my Warmoth Jazz:

Warmoth Neck: Slim taper Maple neck with Indian Rosewood fingerboard, Perloid block inlays, Cream binding, Vintage Cream headstock

Warmoth Body: Alder body, top routed.

Lindy Fralin 60's Jazz pickups with copper plating underneath, Control plate routing lined in copper foil, Warmoth pots, Orange Drop capacitor. Gotoh 201 bridge, Schaller Straplocks, Schaller Machine Heads.

can I get a number?

I put the body and neck together and strung it up. I like the slim profile neck. Definitely a winner. I can't imagine too many people won't prefer it to the others. No idea why Warmoth feel the need to charge extra for it? This should be the default thickness. Can't really comment on the graphite rods yet, but they seem fine.

I bought a very light (4 lbs) body, pictured above and it's a bit neck heavy. I always thought the Warmoth '51/Tele headstock didn't look quite right. I found a picture of an original taken from above and resized it until the tuner holes lined up. You can see the difference in the photo. I'm going to reshape it, which should look better and help it be less neck heavy.

I'm pleased to say it worked. Not quite perfect, but when you compare the originals, there were slight variations anyway.
