I'm doing my first ever build. I put some of the parts together just to check fit and measurements. Here's a couple of pictures.
The specs are:
Warmoth Jazz body, alder with flame maple top. Red w/natural mask drop top binding
Allparts Jazz lined fretless ebony neck (with Fender waterslide decal that will be replaced by something custom)
Vintage-style tuners
Seymour Duncan SJB-1 pickups
Fender vintage-style threaded saddle bridge (not the one that's in the pic, but almost exactly the same)
Control plate wired Master Volume, Blend, Tone (with vintage-style cloth wiring)
TI Jazz Flats
Aged pearloid pickguard with no screw holes (still waiting on that - still debating whether to put it on with double-sided tape or just go with no pickguard at all)

IMHO, I'd go with the pickguard. I never liked the looks of a Jazz with a control plate and no p/g. But hey, it's your shiny new Jazz. Rock it however you want! |

I've been waiting on a Jazz body from Warmoth (and ironically also have an Allparts neck here) for about 6 weeks now. I know it could take a lot longer. But if my tri-color sunburst comes out even close to as gorgeous as your Jazz, it'll be worth the wait. Though I personally don't like Jazzes with control plates but no PGs, that top is just too beautiful to put holes through. Either double-sided tape it on or no PG at all. |

It was one they had in their online showcase. Which means it was (relatively) cheap, too!

Ordered a p/g custom with no screw holes and will attach it (IF I attach it) with double-sided tape. I needed one to use to make sure the control plate is positioned correctly anyway. When it's all put together, I'll post some pics with and without the p/g and see what y'all think.

normally i'd say put the pickguard on but this bass is too nice to be hidden by some plastic. leave it off.
