Seriously... give it a listen... I love it... super tight, great tone, groovy as all get-out... http://www.box.net/shared/od9hurvhmy | HOLY SMOKES!!!! What a player, and what a tone!!!!
I gotta say I love the tone of my MM/J, but I do miss the J bass tone. I can't get it with mine, but the tone I do get is it's own thing altogether. I just picked up an old MTD Saratoga (not the new passive ones) with Bart J's and a Bart preamp, and it smokes, and has satisfied my need for an active J tone. | I understand. |

Cool, that's the one I have now! Do you have more pictures of it? That's a really nice one! Though I couldn't get those ugly knobs off of it fast enough. Just sportin' some stock black metal knobs now.
And man, I forgot how many of these you'd been through. Wow. |

Vic, to answer your question, My bass also has the X55 pups but the original Bart pre was an older model NTMB (late 90's) with fixed mids and not the best installation job. The freq centers I was referring to not working well were with the Glock pre. I believe the newer Barts may work a bit better.

Yeah, I gotta' say I urge you to try a straight up install of a current stock NTMB918. For the mid points, I'd go 250/400/800 or something like that. |

I'm happy, other than a bit of buzzing on the strings but I had to adjust the truss quite a bit due to massive climate changes. Minnesota = colder than crapola, Georgia = warm and nice. I am very impressed with the woodwork and fingerboard especially. The sustain through my old Boss multi effects processor (early 90's) is unreal, especially when I go stereo during worship service.
