Warwick $$ not saying Made in Germany Help!

Sign in to disble this ad
I have a chance to buy a warwick corvette $$ double buck but it doesnt say made in Germany on the back of the headstock. I thought I have seen one before that said it on the back of the headstock. Im pretty sure its not a rockbass. Any comments?

Warwick's don't say "made in germany" on the back of the headstock (at least none of the one's I've owned ever have). I think it usually says it on the control cavity cover (inside maybe?). Here are a few things to check to see if it's rockbass or MIG:

Maple neck= rock bass, ovangkol= german
3 knob passive electronics= rockbass, 4 knob active electronics= german
2 toggle switches for pickups only on german (if no toggles, it's a rockbass)
I believe (but could be wrong) that rockbass serial numbers start with RB

You can always get the serial number and punch it in on the warwick website and it will tell you. If you can get pictures, either post them here or on the warwick forum and people can let you know.

FWIR newer Warwicks say if they're German, but only last couple of years, probably since the introduction on the PRO series.
Judge by serial number:
RB X-XXXXXX-XX - Rockbass (China)
WPS X-XXXXXX-XX - Pro Series (Korea)
X-XXXXXX-XX - a German one

You can contact warwick.de and ask them. You need to send them photos of the front, back, serial no, and the electronics, and they will send you all the info about that particular bass.
