Warwick: 94' Streamer Bolt-on x 2000 FNA

Sign in to disble this ad
Hello dear bass friends ...

I´d like to ask for your opinion on a possible bass change I´ve been thinking about.
Today I own a 2000 Warwick Corvette FNA 5 bass which I like: it doesn´t have my perfect warwick tone but I do like the mids in that bass.

Today an oportunity to change (one for the other, no money involved) my FNA for a 94' Streamer bolt-on 5 (I guess at that time there was no streamer I or II or LX, ...).
I got in love with warwicks listening to Stuart Zender, which has some of that pre ovangkol necks ...

I´d like to ask for your opinion since I don´t know much about those old Streamers ... does it seem to be a valid/good deal?
Do you have information about those streamers since I couldn´t find much on the internet?

FNA: ash body, maple top, ovangkol neck and fretboard, 1 MM MEC pickup, seymour duncan pré

Streamer: seems to be a 2 piece cherry body (have to confirm), maple/bulbinga neck, bulbinga fretboard, 2 jazz mec pickups, mec bass/treble preamp.

Thanks for your help!

Take the 94 streamer!!! thats classic warwick piece there. The cherry body and maple/wenge neck with wenge fretboard.
Those are as close as you can get to the vintage streamer nt's as you can get. I mean the old old 85-88 streamers before the stage I and II's

There are tons of FNA's out there but not the streamer bolt on's

Thanks for your reply ...

I´m trying to get more information from the actual owner since he told a pre owner made some repair service on the body finish ( I thought it had always been oil + wax) ...

Any other info about those streamers?
Did they come with brass frets as well?

Some pictures:

Unfortunately it seems (I´m trying not to believe) that the frets have been replaced, the straps (well, doesn´t matter that much) and the finish has been repaired/redone. Any change of having original not golden frets?

Those are things that make me think about giving the oportunity up ...

More info: neck is 7 piece and the neck joint is curve (ergonomic), different from other streamer bolt-ons I´ve seen before.

If it plays great I would take it. You can always replace the frets again with Warwick bell brass frets if you want. The finish... Eh I prefer natural wicks.

Well, I always get afraid when I find myself thinking about buying refretted basses or refinished basses ....
The user claims the frets are original but I'm sure originals were brassbells, can anyone confirm that?
Also, does anybody else have information about those old streamers, their price in the market, ...?

tnx

You can always contact Warwick yourself asking about the frets on their '94 models.

Personally, I would not do it (the switch).
