Is this Warwick beyond saving?

I just saw this ad on the local online classifieds, and thought I'd share it. On the surface it looks pretty normal, I'm half tempted to make an offer, but the more I look the more I convince myself that it would have to be aquired for next to nothing to salvage it. I predict refinishing it, fabricating bezels for the pickups, and the control cavity panel, as well as plugging some of the random holes in the body.

Here is the link:

I tend to agree with you.
Could be a good bass, but you'd have to undo all the damage first.
I think the price is too high given the state its in.
$800 and no more for me..

For $800 you can get a perfectly good Fortress that DOESN'T need fixing up. I can't imagine paying more than $200 US for this ugly monstrosity...

Someone reallyl went to town on this thing, body and headstock reshape too.

It could be a funk FrankenWick if you get it cheap but $800 is to steep.

Very fixable. But not a chance on that price. I agree with Collins. Make an offer. No higher than 300 though IMO.

The bass isn't beyond saving, but the previous owner probably is.

Only buy it if you really enjoy messing about with sad basses...and the fact that you ask the original question suggests you aren't. And certainly not at the asking price: 200 sounds like absolute tops.

I would agree with the others, its very altered and not in a good way. Price-wise, I would say exactly what RCCollins and Osprey said. Best of luck...

In Victoria? Not a chance.
The bass itself would easily be saved but the price is still bad.

FWIW, I just picked up a Fortress on Ebay for $660 in excellent shape. Even with shipping to Victoria, its a much better deal than what is offered here.

It actually looks like the seller was trying to make it a Stuart Zender signature model. See here:

Then he (we can only assume) failed badly. So, potentially, for $200 and a bunch'a monkeying around you could have a butchered Wick....... I'd pass.

I'm not particularily interested in the bass, if I could get it for $200 max, it might be a fun project, but at the end of the day, it will always be an orphan, with limited resale value. I have enough orphan basses as it is. I'd love to know what this guy was thinking when he started hacking away.
