Warwick Corvette $$ 5er

Sign in to disble this ad
Guys,
I have a chance to pick up a Warwick Corvette $$ 5er BO used for about $1100.
I havent actually seen it yet- seller says its kind of a yellowed natural finish which I figure is Honey Violin. He also claims there are no significant marks, chips, swirls, and the neck is supposedly fine, etc.
Comes with the Warwick gig bag.

I checked our classifieds and I didnt see any recent sales of these that I could use for comparison purposes.

Decent price or what?

I got my 4 string $$ for 999 Canadian used.
Not the biggest deal, but an alright price.

Price seems a little high to me. I typically see these going for $800-1000 in most cases. When I bought one last winter, I got it on ebay for about $850 or so. It was either '07 or '08 in very good condition with only one or two very small scratches on the bottom, otherwise near flawless. I'd try to talk him down a bit.

OK thanks.

I love the variety of tones you can get from the $$'s. I played one at GC awhile back and I was impressed with the versatility.
I dont play 5s that much but I figured if the deal is good enough, I'd go for it.
I just want to be sure I'd have room to flip it if its not really my cup o tea.

I paid $1085 new for mine at a GC. It was a new 2006 model that had a lot of hangtime.

I absolutely love its bomp and versatility. And the Nirvana Black oil finish and black hardware.

Just got a Lakland 55-01 fretless and enjoy that as well, but the $$ 5-er is still "home".

Oddly enough after playing the 35" scale 55-01 for awhile, I feel more precise about playing the $$ naturally. Between scale stretching out my fingers and fretless improving my finger placement, they are a nice pair.

I tend to gig more with the Warwick 'til I get more practice time on the 55-01.

Don't think I'll ever give up the $$.

Great basses but Amazon had had them for $899 brand new a few weeks ago. That does not help you now I know, other than pointing out that you can do better on the price.

i got mine new for $1100! of course it was a 2008 that had been sitting in the store for 2 years, but still...seems like you should be able to get a slightly better deal than that. at any rate it's a fantastic bass, worth every penny.

btw, i love our little "corvette $$ gang" that gets together to comment wherever $$'s are mentioned haha.
