Warwick corvette 5 or Spector legend classic 5?

Sign in to disble this ad
I've actually had the chance to play the warwick at my local CC and it was amazing. I almost ran outta the store with, lol. I really want to play a spector tho, but no shops in my area have them. Can anybody give me some kinda comparison of the two?

Warwick and Spector may look and seem similar, but they really aren't. If you really really liked the Warwick, chances are you won't like the Spector as much because it's a totally different bass.

They are a little tricky to compare.

Between these two i'd go for a german-made warwick.
If u decide you want a spector look for rebop models and up.

There's always the streamer option if u like the warwick feel and sound but the spector looks.

I actually like the Legend Classic necks more so than the Euros. They are not quite as chunky. My Euro (with real EMG's) sounds richer and is much hotter than my classics, but they still sound really good. I would go Spector.

+1.
If you really liked the Warwick, just get it, although I would check whats the exact model you played and look for a used one since Warwicks tend to loose their value by a lot.
If you do look for a used Warwick, check exactly what year is the one you played, Warwick changed their neck profile around 99' and then again around 2009-10' (don't remember the exact year) so keep that in mind.

+1 about the necks , my 08 vette standard neck is a chunk . Very comfy , but not comparable to my spector .

I've owned both Spector and Warwick. Was using the Spector Rebop and it was really light on the shoulders but the tone is quite huge, more mid heavy with lots of punch. Then I went back to my Warwick Dolphin SN and FNA (single MM humbucker version). Both the warwicks have way more bottom end and punch but they are a fair bit heavier. Spectors somehow doesn't have that wood tone like Warwicks...if that's what you're looking for. To add on, the necks on the Warwicks are chunkier, the ReBop was much smaller and more suitable for smaller hands.

To repeat what was said, Warwicks and Spectors are very different beasts. I'm a Warwick fan so of course i'm biased. You have to know what you're looking for and see which feels better in your hands.

I'm a huge fan of Spectors, but I have to admit that the Legends don't really "do it" for me the way that Czech and USA-made Spectors do. They are not bad, but I don't think they would hold up well against a German-made Warwick.

If you get a chance to try out a Euro LX or Rebop, it would be worth your while. But, knowing that you like the Warwick already, it is a safer bet and a very nice bass.

Just FYI....the Rockbass Double-Buck is NOT a German-made Warwick.

I would try to find a used German Warwick....should not be hard to find one under $900 right now. You can easily get a used Corvette Std for under $900 and it will probably destroy that Rockbass. If you look around enough, you can probably find a German Double-Buck for $900, or even a little less.

Actually the new RBs are supposed to be pretty good in terms of quality and tone is subjective, a german 'vette STD would sound different from a $$ RB because of the pickups, maple neck vs. ovangkol etc...
If you can find a german Warwick Corvette standard give it a try, if you do like it then thats what I would buy if I were you.

I agree that the new RBs may be a step up from the 1st generation RBs. However, I would NEVER recommend anyone spend $900 on one. They will sell for $400 or less on the used market. I can get a used, German Warwick for $500-600 pretty easily.

If German Warwicks have poor resale value (and the regular productions models DO have poor resale value), how do you think that Chinese Warwicks will do on the used market? Wait for them show up used and save about $500 to use for an amp, cab, etc.

I have a legend custom , not classic , and I have to say it blows away my old reboop . I would also say the legend custom would be my pick over any of the rock bass basses and even over the standard that I have for sale . They are just totally different .
