Warwick Corvette Fretless for Reggae?

Sign in to disble this ad
Not sure if this is the place for this thread but I am considering buying a Warwick Corvette 4 string fretless and using it for reggae. Currently I play a fender jazz. Roll with the down all the way down. Using flatwounds. I am ok with the sound for the most part but I think a fretless will bring me to exactly where I want to be. I'm also currently using a Peavey 1x15 combo amp. So:

1) Fretless for Reggae?
2) Any experience with this setup?
3) Any words of advice?

Thanks all!

I use a fretless for reggae and love it. Gets ya great 'thump' by taking that pesky metal out of the equation ('cept for the bridge saddles, I guess)

I owned a fretless vette for awhile and while I didn't keep it very long, it was just a matter of personal preference, it sounded (more or less) as good as my jazz does.

99% of the time there are no rules about what bass to use except for weird beliefs and peer pressure. If you're making the right 'thump' no one will, or should, care...

I got a defretted 5 string vette and you can easily do from Jaco (bridge pickup soloed and treble boosted a tad) to deep low dub bass (Neck pickup and the lows boosted a tad and in passive mode)

very versatile and the bass is wearing DAddario Chromes
