Warwick Corvette Standard

My new (used) Warwick Corvette Standard bridge is too narrow for the B string, what to do to make a .130 fit into the slot??
I tried filing it, didnt work too well, and I tried squishing the string with pliers, didnt work... the last strings on it were tapered at the bridge side, but these D'Addario XL 170s just wont fit, I don't like the sound of the ones that were on it, these new ones sound good, so I really want to put the last string on

Thanks

Normally filing the slot &/or crimping the string makes it fit.
What gauge is this string?

If you don't want to file the saddle more, you can use taperwound strings that have an exposed core where they pass over the saddle.

Crimp,or flatten the string slightly with a pair of flat nosed pliers.Dont go nuts & try to make it flat, like a pancake.Just squeeze it slightly till it fits in.
A .130 gauge should fit easily.I used .135's in mine with just a slight crimping.
If you do file it,dont file any more than half a millimeter from either side of the slot of you risk pulling the ball end through.

I use DR strings on my Corvette 5; and the B string fits just fine. The DR strings also sound great IMO. You can also use Warwick strings which will fit fine.

No reason filing it with metal file wont work just fine. Back then waewick acknowledged that their bridge slots where too narrow for most brands of strings and they openly said the solution was for peeps to file the slots wider themself with a metal file. Thats what I had to do with the warwick corvetter active 5'r I had many years ago.

Get a hammer and lightly flatten the end of the string, thats how I got my .130 to fit.
Just lightly tap the string on both sides until you can fit it through the tailpiece.
