Warwick Corvette Standard vs. Double Buck

Sorry, if this has been questioned and answered before.

What are the differences between those two other than one is made in Korea with the other in Germany. I also noticed that the electronics are different. However, do those differences translate into something big in terms of playability? I think they also differ in sound, but that's another story.

Thank you for your teaching me on this. I've just started, so be gentle to me please.

The standard has single coils and the double buck has humbuckers. The $$ is ash the standard is wenge i think and is a lot heavier. The feel of the neck is about the same. The $$ is also about 700-800 more brand new. And yes the electronics do translate to big tonal differences. The pickups on the buck can be set to series, parallel, or single coil for each pickup. You can also turn the preamp off to make it passive, the standard is passive only. The $$ is a great bass with loads of sounds. I have one and it is my one and only bass. i play in three very different bands and it fits with all of them very well.

I see and many thanks. Since the standard is single coiled, does that mean it is more prone to hum?

I haven't played the new Std's that are made in Korea, but when I bought my Std 5 I also played other German made $$'s at the same time. I went with the Std because it was much less complicated and the price was right; it gave me an awesome sound that I didn't have to do much to get. On top of that, the pickups seemed to get in my way a bit on the $$; I've heard other people say that and also say that it doesn't take long to get used to, but I really didn't want to deal with it.

The Std, at least when it was made in Germany, came in different body materials to include bubinga (mine) and Swamp Ash. The single coil pickups that mine has have zero hum.

Like I said, this is prior to 2010; I've not played the new Korean ones although I've read fantastic reviews about them. Either way, fantastic instruments all around!

I played a Korean Warwick, and it felt very very good compared to the German ones. Although, I do find the $$ to have many more useful tone options.

Im a double buck owner and love it. The only thing that would have made it perfect would have been a 3 band eq rather than the 2 band but that can be eq'd at the amp, I believe the way the 2 band is set though the high control highs and some mid high and the lows also delve into the mid low range so its not totally with out some mid control. The switching for single, series and parallel is awesome love the versatility. Often I use both pickups blended and use the switching to get my tonal options.
