Well, I've never played a Corvette but a friend of mine has a 5-string Growler and it sounds really, really nice. The neck is EXTREMELY thin (front to back) a bit on the wide side and "flat" feeling though so that may take some getting used to, especially if you're transitioning from a 4-string and/or Fender style neck. You also want to watch it not to overdo on the boost controls cause the electronics on the Growler are really "hot".

The Growler by far. Even the gibson tobias are exelent basses. The 2 I have tried are incredible sounding, that pup is one of the best active. The bass has an exelent playability a hi fi tone, great slap tone even with a bad amp, and it is so warm.
An engineer told me to use the growler instead of a warwick thumb because we where needing a warmer tone. The growler can beat any warwick.

For me, my corvette 5 string is basically perfect. But that's for me.

Just got to try them out OP, no way you'll know which one you'll like better from reading posts on the internet.

I had the warwick corvette fiver. Mec J pups and active eq version with bubinga body, ovankol and wenge neck. It was available in two neck choices, a slimmer and a regular wider more baseball bat version. I had the slimmer neck version. Id of been happier with it with diff pups and preamp. Stock I couldnt get it to give what I wanted with heavy overdrive sound. But it did play very nice and had one of the very few useful sounding low B's Ive heard to it. Though I ended up string it EADGB like 1st five of guitar. Anyway, Id have to say the Growler would be my choice if I had it to do over again. For better suited to me sound.
