Yep, my Masterman has a great slap tone!

Just wish I could slap more than a couple very rudimentary riffs!

Hey folks, I had a question. Anyone know what artists endorsed Fortresses back in the day.

It is kind of a silly questions as it would not change my opinion of these incredible basses one iota, it's just something that occurred to me to ask. They were in production for about 7 years so surely there must have been some pro endorsers back in the day.

Anyone have any knowledge?

Thanks!

Anyone? Or is this way of you guys letting me know that there wasn't a single endorsing artist who played our beloved Fortress?

Maybe that's one of the reasons they discontinued the Fortress. But it leaves room for one of us to make the Fortress his signature instrument!

I realize, of course, that they continue to make the Rockbass fortress, but that's just a tease

On another note, I am thinking of having my '95 Fortress One (Active) refinished. I have absolutely no idea what color though. Was thinking of some sort of metallic sparkle but would love to get suggestions from the club. What do you guys think? What would be the dream finish for an older F1?

RB Fortress is just not right. Then again, they did make the F1 in all maple, so it it probably similar.

LOL- that is the finish now! Since Warwick used Crayola fingerpaint to finish the F1s in those days it has some wear. But also, it looks like a previous owner drilled in a new straplock bottom center and then later filled it. It was a pretty good touch job but it bothers me. I figured a refin would hide all that.

I thought a metallic would be cool as kind of a nod to our beloved Flashbacks.

Whaddaya think?

Here's a shot of my 1995 Fortress One, in transparent purple (French Violet). I love it, both the looks and the playability.

Nice! I have a 4-string F1 in french violet. So how come you guys don't make a German version anymore?

Hmm. Based on the strap button NOT being countersunk/flush mounted, I would say yours is circa 1999 or 2000. Is that correct? And does that mean you have one of the rare birds with an Ovangkol neck? If so, we will need to see more pictures please!!!!

You can buy a new German made Fortress thru the Warwick custom shop. Andy Irvine had a Fortress Masterman made a few months back with an additional P pickup. Sounded and looked great!

I wish they'd come out with a standard German built model again. Great basses.

Cool. Does that mean the NYC custom shop is closed soon? I need to bring some of my wicks in for Dan to work on.
