Hello, I am considering purchasing a warwick thumb 5 string. I have a couple questions for those of you who own or have played one.
1. How big of a difference are we talking with the neck through vs bolt on. It's an absurd amount of money to get the neck through version. I could understand a price jump but its 2000$ more! Is there some enormous advantage that i'm not aware of. I have never played a neckthrough bass so I don't have any knowledge of it.
2. The bolt on version is made of ovangkol and the neck through is bubinga. Is this just a preference in looks or are the tonal differences apparent between the two woods. If you have noticed the wood type to make a big difference in sound I would love to hear. All thoughts and opinions appreciated.
3. Lastly, I heard warwick started making their "old" profile necks again which are much slimmer. I had a corvette I bought in 2005 and the neck felt like a baseball bat. Are the new necks much slimmer feeling and also, when did they start making them with the slimmer necks as I will probably purchase used and I don't want to get one with that chunky neck. Thanks for the info everybody. It's much appreciated
Little kids are the best musicians. They're not thinking about what anyones gonna think about it,they're just going straight for the expression. So the best thing a musician can be is a little kid~Flea
