Warwick Rockbass bridge pickup problem

Sign in to disble this ad
Hi there,

Has anyone noticed the distorted sound that comes out from the bridge pup when you dial it in? The neck pup sounds ok and clean, but whenever I dial in the bridge pup entirely it seems as if my Ampeg/Eden rigg is tearing apart. Two days ago at rehearsal I tried several songs with more of the bridge pup than the neck pup, the latter being the one I usually use, and my bandmates looked at me as if I had just made us sound like sh*t.
I know these basses are not the best, but they aren't the worst either, especially since I got this one for free. The battery has been replaced just a few months ago, and since the neck pup still sound good it can't be a battery issue. Maybe just a bad pup?

Can you be more specific about the sound, and how you were set up? Was your treble pot cranked up?

I had to install a split choke for RF noices on my battery harness (at the splice) and one on my treble pickup harness. I was getting a radio station when I cranked my treble. That fixed it.

The basses could definitely benefit from being shielded.

Take a look at the shielding thread in the setup area. The weak area seems to be the preamp, more than the pickups.

Bob
