Warwick Rockbass Corvette active vs $$

Sign in to disble this ad
I really like the way the warwick rockbass corvettes look, and I've found some pretty good deals online, but I can't decide whether I'd want the active one or the passive $$ model. I'm completely new to this all, and I'm not exactly sure what I'll be playing yet, but I think it will probably end up being rock or maybe metal some day. What do you guys think?

If possible, why not give both a try to see what you prefer? It's always best to try before buy.

Also depends on how you are going to play it, for metal/heavier rock I'd say active, but for jazz and indie stuff I'd go passive. Or you could just yank the preamp in it and swap it out for one with an A/P push pull on your volume and have both!

I've visited several shops out here in Hawaii and can't seem to find one that sells Warwicks, except for one that sells an expensive fretless version. The fretless version was a corvette, though, and looked really nice, which is what made me want to look into them.

Also, the active model is a J/J, whereas the passive has two humbuckers. I've heard that humbuckers are pretty good for rock, and the model with the passive humbuckers is more expensive than the model with the active J/J pickups.
