Warwick Rockbass problem

Sign in to disble this ad
hey everyone. i wanted to throw a question at you guys, and see if you could help me..

lately, i've been having some problems with my 5 string Warwick Rockbass. one of them is the battery is just dying, even when im not playing it. sounds weird i know, but ill put a new battery in it, it will sit for a few days in the case, not plugged in, and when i do plug it in to play it, i get no sound. this happens every time i let it sit.

i've also noticed that when i put the new battery in and play it right away, the tone is kind of distorted. it never used to do that. i figured it might just be because i have the volume too low on my ampeg ba115hp, but then again i keep it at the same volume for all my basses, and none of the other ones do this.

would you guys say it's time to get this thing serviced, or is there some way i can fix these things myself? thank's for the help, and happy holidays!

That sounds pretty strange. You usually get the distortion when the battery is about to go and I don't know how it would be able to drain one so quickly since the draw is so light on the battery anyway.

Do you see any kind of corrosion or the like on the electronics?

Sounds like a short in the battery circuit, or in the output jack.

that's probably the best way to describe the sound now that you mention it. it sounds just like it should when the battery is just about dead, but it sounds that way as soon as i put the battery in.

ill have to check for corrosion when i get home. i dont really know anything about the electronics in basses though, so ill probably just have to get it look at.
