warwick steramer standard(rockbass)

Sign in to disble this ad
hey guys, i've doing a bit of browsing online at warwicks recently and i came across the warwick streamer standard. i love the look of this bass and all the reviews i've watched say nothing but good things about it. Before i go into a shop and try one i thought it'd be a good idea to get some feedback on what everyone thinks about it. and if anyones bought it and had any problems with it. (i attached a pic just for fun)

thanks, Ben.

Cause everbody has the money to dish out for a real warwick..

Anyways. From what I've read over the years the rock basses are quality instruments...they're just not true wicks. Which is to be expected givin the price difference. I love the streamer body shape. The rockbasses have thinner necks as well (compared to real warwicks) which may or may not be a good thing to you. Best thing to do is just go try it out for yourself,if possible, and see if you like it,after all thats what matters in the end.

Yeah, if you keep your eyes open and have the cash readily available you should be able to snag a "real" Warwick for about the same price as the "fake" RockBass.

BTW, I've played some of those "fake" Warwick and the play and sound great and if the were a different company all together they would be considered a fantastic higher midrange bass as far as price/quality. Its funny how many people are cool with Squires but hate other big brand name's lower line of instruments. I don't get it.

I have a RockBass Streamer and there is nothing wrong with it. The Chinese factory that builds them answers to Warwicks standards and the basses are set up by Warwick and come with documentation as to string height at 12 and 24th frets. Don't let the Warwick snobs scare you away from a quality instrument.

I have a few Rockbasses in the shop, Streamer and Corvette. The streamer has a good solid sound, and sits very nicely in a mix (I trialled it at a rehearsal, being store manager and all). You can do a lot worse for the same money. BTW, Rockbasses are also serviced by Warwick in Germany. I had one with a stuffed trussrod, which is now in Germany, they replaced the bass though....no questions asked.

I have a different model Rockbass, and I play it more often than a couple of much more expensive basses I have. The electronics/pickups sound very good.

I like the narrow string spacing; have you checked to see you're ok with that?

The only flaw to this that I've noticed (and have read about from others) is that sometimes the fret placement up at the top is just slightly off. Most people playing down at the "money" end will never even notice, but in some contexts I solo up there, so I notice. I've minimized the problem by doing a sort of compromise intonation adjustment at the bridge.

Other than that, Rockbass is hard to beat for the money.

I have both a squier and a german wick...love them both. both feel different, see if you can try both make that decisions
I prefer the wick before my squier, the neck on the wick feels better to me.
I got my corvette for cheaper than the RB vette...it was $500...if you can hold out for a deal, but if not grab a RB...im a wick freak cos of my vette but im not beyond grabbing a RB just cos it's not a german made...
I want a vampyre, i might just grab a RB version since i can't really afford the custom $$$$$$$$ one want...at least not right now

Rockbasses aren't bad if you can't find a used wick.
