I have a Streamer LX 4 string, and I absolutey love it! The only reason I would get rid of it would be to trade for a Warwick 5 (Thumb or Streamer). I know the LX 5 is a little different tonally than the 4 (P vs. J neck pickup), but I personally think they still have enough similarities to compare. These are great basses. Very versatile, punchy, and aggressive. The 5 will have tight string spacing, but is very easy to get used to IMO, and can be widened at the bridge a little bit (each saddle is adjustable laterally). The curved and contoured body is very comfortable, and mine is very light (8.5lbs). Not sure what a LX 5 would weigh though. Umm...yeah, awesome bass. Highly recommended!

IME, all ovangkol necked Warwicks(like the one pictured)are thicker(front-to-back, not wider)than the older wenge necks. I've heard differing opinions, of course.

My Streamer Jazzman LX (2009) has a tiny Jazz neck. Love it!

I believe the 2008+ ovankal necks are slim. I just sold a $$ 5 string and it had a very similar neck profile as my streamer stage II with slim neck. Most of the baseball thick necks are from late 99-2007 models

2009 models and onward are slim

To the OP.

The streamer LX is one of my favorite Warwicks. It is similar to the Streamer stage II but fatter.

I dont know. I just had a 2008 corvette $$ 5 string and the neck was pretty slim. I definately know the difference because I had a 2001 thumb bo and tried numerous thick models as well as vintage warwicks.

My LX 4 is a '99 and has an Ovangkol neck with a thinner profile than the '05 Thumb BO 4 and '04 Corvette 4. I've had an '03 and '08 Corvette 5 (Standard and $$ respectively) that had thick necks and an '09 'vette 5 std with a thin neck. I believe in 1999 they changed to the thick neck, but it seems not all '99's had thick. The change back to thin profile I thought happened in '09, so I was under the impression all '08's had thick necks. To be safe, if it's 2000-2007 I'd say it's a safe bet it'll be thick, and 1999 or 2008 could be hit or miss?

owned a late-90's model for about 5 years. Liked it at first, it played incredibly, but fell out with it in the end. Muddy low-end, didn't like the artificial-mids it put out, high end was glassy/harsh and the D+G always sounding thin. Granted, I had moved to NYC where, in most of the work i was doing, showing up with a 5-string flame maple Warwick could get you fired. Still, I couldn't even consider keeping it around to do the modern Gospel, RnB, "session-guy-sound" thing.
