You probably mean wenge and ovangkol necks.

that bass should be pretty fine ....however i own a german warwick ....i've never tried a Korean .....there are a few Rock Bass (china) starting to show up in my neck of the woods ...they are pretty gastly but that's the bottom of the line for warwick....i think they are reasonably well built but the neck just has so sex appeal for me at all.....really chunky without the assymetric shaping of a german.

your stage 1 is german as well so you have that as the measuring stick.

If it is German, it is good to go. I can't remember which one Stg I or Stg II is more growly and heavy sounding. someone will chime in.

See that's what I want ...I think it may be the stage 1...but not sure u only have the stage 1.....I'm looking at two stage ii but if they fall through ill look for a stage one.....one of the stage ii is only 300.00 more than the pro lx ...so I bet I go with the stage ii unless I hear that the stage 1 is the heavier sounding one ....thanks for the input

The Stage I and II are neck-thru models, while the LX is bolt on, so they're different animals. The Stage II has an ovangkol/afzelia neck, while the Stage I has maple. Both have wenge fingerboards. I'm more of a Thumb guy, but I'd guess the Stage II is growlier from the neck woods.

A new Stage II is about $4600 from Musicians Friend, and the Stage I can be had for about $3500. On Ebay, I see a new German LX for about $2500, and the Korean one for $1500. Big variation in pricing.

I have some German Warwicks that I really like, but I haven't tried the Korean models. I'd be willing to at least try them if I ever see one.
