Grab it!!! This is a German-made instrument, with enough room in the control cavity to make a smuggler smile. I had one, played it for 2 years, threw an EMG BTC (2-band) circuit in it to give me more sonic flexibility, and sold it...at a profit, and I sometimes regret it. Get it before I do.

That's about what those go for, at least from what I've seen they're usually around $300-450 range. It's essentially the pre-rockbass rockbass. Still german made, but passive, single pickup, one-piece bridge, etc.

IMO a decent deal, if it has the ovangkol neck- if it has a wenge neck, a screaming deal.

There are a few really awesome basses for sale around my area on CL. Like a fender P for $250 and an Ibanez BTB 5 string for like $350 I think its way nice and this. decisions decisions.

I owned one of these a while back, and while I really liked the neck and playability of it, I never quite found the sound of it to my liking. It just seemed a bit thin to me. But like plankspanker noted, the cavity has acres of room for adding electronics if you want to go that route. The asking price is about average for those--but a couple of things to note: first, they stopped making those about 2001, so the year is off, and second, the ad suggests it has some wear, which on that model can be pretty significant due to the "Carolina" wood body which is a very soft pine wood. They tend to photograph looking in better shape than they look in person.

+1 to this as well. The three I've seen in person were pretty beat up, more so than most warwicks. I was never sure if it was a factor of them being "lower-end" or just a small sample size, but the soft wood used for the body kind of puts it all into perspective.

It's got a carolena body,wenge/wenge neck/fingerboard,fully passive.
It has a very warm tone. The only drawback,if you could call it is the pickup. It has quite a low output & it's footprint means it only has one known replacement,a Bartolini.Unless you're wanting to route.Personally,I'd just crank the gain if it sounded too low.
As has been mentioned,it's the predesessor to the Rockbass line.

I probably wont do anything with the electronics. I'm still sort of a beginner and I know absolutely nothing about modifying. I could probably change the pick guard but thats about it.
should I still get it with its standard electronics?

Also, how do I know if it is a wenge neck or not and now does that make it better?
