Washburn B15? Good for a starter?

Sign in to disble this ad
Hey, im new to TB and im just getting my first bass. I found amazing deal on a Washburn B15 but i cannot find anything on the web about this bass, i can not try it currently as it is a out of town deal so i was wondering if anyone could tell me what the bass is like and if it is good for a first bass. Please include things like what kind of tones its good for(ex punk, jazz, metal) and how thick the neck is.

I realize I'm a bit late...

But, the Washburn B-15 is a GREAT bass. It's basically a Made-In-USA high quality version of Washburn's cheaper late 80's-early 90's foreign-made basses (such as the B-2, B-4, etc.). The B-15 however was not laminated ply (as the B-2 was); the B-15 was solid hard-rock maple. It's a bit heavy, but SUPER solid. Most of these basses back in the day had crackle finishes. The bass came with re-labeled passive EMG's (similar to Selects of the day) and also simple bass/treble active electronics with a push pull switch for activation.

These basses actually have LIFETIME warranties through Washburn. I had the neck replaced on a B-2 YEARS later (due to improper storage on my part) under warranty. No questions asked.

I routed both a B-2 and a B-15 for Kahlers back in the day. The ply of the B-2 was simple...the hard rock maple of the B-15 (using a drill for my primitive routing back in the day) was like trying to dig a hole in granite with a dull spoon.

A super solid bass...with many basses at my disposal (currently near 60) for recording the B-15 has made it's way on a good 30% of them. It might not LOOK great, but the Washburn B-15 plays and SOUNDS great.
