Waterstone TP-8/32 & TP-12/32 bass questions.

Sign in to disble this ad
Hi fellas...I have been checking out these Waterstone Tom Peterson models, both the 8string & the 12string models.
I seams to me that they are very good quality compared to the pricetag.

Question: Is there anyone here on the forum that owns or has played the 12string model.
As it is a 32inch scale on the standard model IŽll suppose that this Bass could pretty smoth to play even if its a 12string.
I really like that huge pianolike sound...but if the 12string is to heavy to play IŽll guess that the 8string model will be good enough for me.

Thanxx in advance.

I have played the 8. It is not lightweight, but it balanced better than most 8's or 12's. This is because the body is quite large and it offsets the weight of all the tuners on the other end.
It is good for the price.
I've had a Hamer 12 and I feel for me I can get it done with 8 strings, it is easier to finger with the left hand. The Waterstone was too big for me so I have another Hamer 8 now. I'm actually thinking of selling it......

Super heavy and super chunky neck. Decentish build quality, though.

Try a Hagstrom HB-8 it is a solid body 30" scale 8 string. FWIW, I have a Waterstone TP 8 string bass, and I find it to me no worse than my Rickenbacker bass or the Fenders I have played, as far as weight goes. And they sound amazing!

Thanks for the replys...Hmmm you say that the Waterstone tp-8 its not heavier than a Rickenbacker...wish means that the Waterstone 8string would weigh in around 4,5kg or so?
I have two Rick basses one is 4kg and the one whit the horse shoe pick up is 4.44kg wish is ok for me.
I have tested the Hagstrom and it feels ok..maybe then this Waterstone TP-8 could be a option anyway.
Cheers.

I have a first series Waterstone TP 8 string bass and it weighs 9 lbs. I also have a recent series Waterstone TP 8 string bass which weighs about 8 lbs, it has the thinner body. So they are comparable.

I have the Hagstrom HB-8 and it weighs about 11 lbs. Nice bass.

I am selling the first series 8 string bass!
