Weak Bridge pickup

I have a Spector ns4crfm p/j active pickups. The bridge pickup has a weaker output (volume wise) than the neck. Does anybody know why? The controls are bass treble volume blend.

The neck pickup "sees" more of the string, the strings vibrate less closer to the bridge. You can adjust the neck pickup lower to equalize their volumes.

So I would lower the neck pickup then?

Edit: nevermind. That's a dumb question. Lol

It's not dumb.

You might try to raise the bridge pickup. But if the beck
pickup is too boomy, lower it.

You want the pickups in the ideal location. That may
have to be compromised somewhat to make them
more equal in out put.

So, you may need to experiment to find the right
combination of raising and lowering.

I tried that and it seemed to help a lot. Thanks for the answers.

I am lucky. I have had an active PJ for 26
years and the bridge pup is a little stronger
than the neck. That is how I think it should
be. Together, they sound awesome,

It still seams like its a little weak. The bridge pickup is as high as it gets and the neck is as low as it gets. On my passive Ibanez starter bass, the bridge pickup on that has more thump. The battery is good.

This is a common scenario for PJ configurations. The J pickup design will be typically be lower output than a P. How do they sound together? If it sounds good, don't sweat it.

When I blend them like 60% P and 40% J is sounds awesome.

If you have the money for one, I've heard the Nordstrand NJ4SE is a great bridge pickup. It's hum-cancelling, so it actually has two coils. If you wired it in series you'd get a little more output.
