Weak signal and preamp EQ from Stingray

Sign in to disble this ad
I recently acquired a Stingray 4 and I noticed that the output isnt nearly as hot as my mexi p-bass, so naturally I think its weak. Also, the EQ controls seem to not really do much compared to my Schecter Stiletto. Is this just how 'Rays are or do I have a problem? Is the eq just really subtle? I have played a few before, but that was quite a while ago, so if this is the case I wouldnt remember. New strings, new battery. Neck is straight, pickup raised just right.

EQ subtle is not something I expect from a Stingray! The output is not superhot, and it depends a lot on pickup height, but EQ is far from subtle... something not right there...

if your stingray is one of the ones with the plastic battery box in the back, check it for shorts. My 03 'Ray had a bad connection in it and had the same symptoms yours is having.
