Weak A string while slapping

Hello,

I have a OLP Stingray and quite a problem. When I slap, all the strings sound fine except the A string which sounds quite weak and thin but I don't have that problem while playing regular fingerstyle. Also the problem is not in the strings because it's the 4th patch of strings I use in this bass.

It looks like a technique problem.You're using an upward sweep try it downwards with much less movement in the thumb.

Or your A string is set too low.

if the sring is close enough to the magnet......
then I suspect the pickup...
and would buy a replacement

Well it's not the string height, I've set it up higher and same problem. I also noticed that when I play harder in that string the bass buzzes in somewhere I can't find out. Maybe this has something with the thin sound when I slap.
What are your thoughts?

If it isn't the bridge height or pickup height adjustments. Check the nut. Could be too low or too high in the A string slot or even cracked. Are you sure you are winding the strings on the peg correctly? Only a few things it could be. I'd write down all the possibilities that could be wrong and cross them off as I go. If all that checks out, I'd start suspecting that the pickup magnet is somehow a suspect. That's just me...a nerdy guy.

I would say its a lot to do with technique, your whipping the string in an upward motion and your thumb is at an angle that makes it hard to hit the string consistently!
I would recommend that you keep your thumb more parallel to the string, move your hand a lot less and hit the string toward the bass or going down rather than up...
