Weight Lakland 55-60 (JO5)?

I'm concerning ordering a new Lakland 55-60. I now own this:

It's a Fender Deluxe Active Jazz Bass V (made passive etcetera) which sounds quite fine and plays ok (could be better), but it's insanely heavy. It weighs around 9 or 10 pounds, maybe even more... It was 13 pounds in its gigbag when they weighed it at the airport last week.

So I'm looking for a new passive 5-string Jazz-kind of bass, and the 55-60 seems perfect. Question: what is the average weight of one? JO5/55-60 users?

I have a JO-5 Skyline series and it weighs 8.5 lbs.

It's the only one that I've played so I don't know if that's average or not.

Sadowsky NYC's are very light because they have chambered bodies. If you want to save some dough, you can get a Valenti bass - which is VERY similar to a Sadowsky - and also made in the US for much less $$$. They are also very light weight basses.

Over the past year or two, the average weight of the Skyline JO5s at The Perfect Bass has been on the order of 11lbs (I've been watching them). They have one right now right at 11.0lb: http://www.theperfectbass.com/explor...&U=1&SS=1&CR=Y

9 or 10lb is in no way "heavy". You're not gonna do much better than 9lb for a typical production Jazz bass at a reasonable cost. Not saying it can't happen, but you may have to go through more than one to get a light one.

Well it's just a guess I'm a bit spoiled, because my main bass (Fender Jazz 1966) is really light, say about 7lb. 9 or 10 was just a guess, I think it's probably more. As it weighed 13,5lb in its gigbag, I'm guessing it might be about 12 or something.

Anything lighter would be better!

@phillipkregg: Sadowsky and Valenti is a bit too expensive for me right now, as is Valenti...
