So, how much does your seventies Fender Precision weigh?
I'll start:
1975 model with maple neck. 4,8 kilograms. |

Edit: maple/ash |

| | | | My 1976 lefty P Bass is ~8.5 lbs. It's definitely lighter than my '05 Stingray.
Edit: maple neck + ash body? (sunburst)

| | | my 78-ish is ash and maple and weighs slightly less than a tank. its also just as powerful. true story: actually pulled it out of its case one time and a spider had spun itself a little web right over the pickup and was just chillin there. it went nicely with the blood and sweat stains (I refuse to clean it). |

I've seen some as heavy as 14-15 lbs.
And as light a 7.5 lbs.
I prefer ones around 7.5-8.5 lbs. BTJM. |

Seemed to be between my sterling 5 (about 9.5 lbs) and DJ5 (around 8.5-9 lbs) in weight so that seems right. My 78 jazz feels about the same as the fretless P. |

In any case both of my '70's Precisions are 8lbs. My 1974 fretted (crap brown and rosewood) and 1978 fretless (3 tone SB and ebony) are both great basses and as light as I have seen '70's Fenders.
My 1973 Fender Jazz (exactly like a Geddy Lee) is aldo 8lbs.
