I set up all my basses (none expensive)...dress the frets, roll the edges, etc. They all have great feeling necks, although they didn't necessarily feel that good when I got them.

My Zon Mosaic Pro 5-string is best

Played a Fodera before, I was underwhelmed. Nice bass, but not for that $$. I can get 2 or more quality basses for their asking price.

So it is not just me on MM

I just cannot do the Baseball Bat thing, like I sense with Warwicks.

Tone in the end is just not enough, feel is 50% of the inspiration for me.

I played a 55-01. The neck seemed huge so I thought I'd have trouble playing it. Nope. Played like butter. Still a bit bigger than I'd like though.

This is a very subjective question.

I've played some 5ers that I absolutely couldn't handle due to my tiny hands VS. 19 MM string spacing.

I'm most comfortable around 17.5. Everyone is different.
ATK305 has the right spacing but the neck profile was too thick.

My Certainbass Elita is perfect- I have no idea why.

No money regrets regarding my move to Fodera. The neck is unbelievable in my opinion.

I will only go by what I play and I have a JV24 I particular that I like. I like the wider spacing. My fingers cramp less.

I couldn't have said this any better myself. When I close my eyes and its just me and the bass. How it feels in my hands is everything.... but I need tone and feel. That's my holy grail.

I Can't knock a Fodera, the neck is good, it just didn't floor me. Maybe I just expected more because of the dough.

As I get older, I've gotten more tolerant of varying widths of 5 string necks. I've played 5 strings exclusively since the late 80's. My main bass is a Variax 5 and the neck is very Lakland-like. My backup is narrower. My fretless is quite narrow. One bass has P bass string spacing. All my basses are different and I love them all, and can comfortably gig with any of them.

Of the big makers, I would say Warwick, more boutique type, Skjold.
