I've played some 5ers that I absolutely couldn't handle due to my tiny hands VS. 19 MM string spacing.
I'm most comfortable around 17.5. Everyone is different.
ATK305 has the right spacing but the neck profile was too thick.
My Certainbass Elita is perfect- I have no idea why.

I've played 5 strings exclusively since the late 80's. My main bass is a Variax 5 and the neck is very Lakland-like. My backup is narrower. My fretless is quite narrow. One bass has P bass string spacing. All my basses are different and I love them all, and can comfortably gig with any of them. |
