What bass did Ian Maidman use?

During his stint with david Sylvain, ie Taking the Veil? There is a greivous lack of info on this excellent player.

Maybe a picture of him with the bass would help?

I see the thread title and I keep wanting to say, "A Fender P with maple neck, strung with Rotosound flats.", and have to remember that you're talking about Ian Maidman - not Iron Maiden.

Video from correct era but I would not know him from a man on the street so I can't say Ian is in the video.

I also did not listen long enough to see if there are any shots of the bass anyhow, as the era when guitarists and bassist strived to sound like keyboards hurts my ears.

I used to love me some Japan. Some of that stuff gets, um, dated? But anyways, the bass in that particular video looks to me like a Wal. And judging by the mwows and mwahs going on I'd assume there ain't no frets on that thing.

Perhaps the reason why it's hard to find info on this player is because Ian Maidman became Jennifer Maidman a while ago. An excellent bassist, seen here in a couple of recent videos:

@SisterGoodbass on twitter, you could ask her what was used on that album.

Might I ad that no one except Steve Harris makes flats sound like this... unless it's an Harris clone...

Cheers for that!

I kept looking at the video, one shot just about lets you see the headstock - Wal.

Thanks for the help guys.
