Looking back I always try to think about what I could have done to avoid selling it it was perfect! I loved the neck profile, the look with the Zebrawood and black hardware was amazing. I really liked the tone and the generally simple controls. The action was nice and low... damnit... |

I wish I didn't sell that one. Natural wood, maple neck, pearl blocks and white binding. It was pretty heavy but played and sounded great. I think it went to the east coast somewhere.

The loss of the Jazz bass is a matter of utter stupidity and naive-te... I thought the neck was FUBAR, when all it required was a setup, with truss adjustment... I sold it and bought a new Carvin in 1980, which has never needed any adjustments or repairs since I've owned it (still have it)! Now, if only the Carvin weighed 4-5 lbs less... |

| | | | 1973(?) Rickenbacker 4001 with walnut finish, that I paid $385 for in 1976 or'77. I can't imagine what I'd have to pay for one today, if I could even find one!

| | | | I can think of a couple. An Alembic Europa I got back in the 90s; found it on ridiculous sale, new, in a shop in Nashville. It didn't sound like me at all, but it sure was great craftsmanship and its neck was outstanding - slim yet rock-solid. I don't so much miss it as just wish I still had it to look at and handle. Luckily, I sold it for exactly what I paid for it on consignment in a shop in St. Louis. Apparently some guy in a black Porsche drove up, took one look at it, and bought it.
Apart from that, wish I had kept the couple of 70s fretless P-basses I bought back in the 90s a bit longer. Again, they weren't really my style - the Godin Acoustibass I bought afterward was and is my perfect fretless - but I bought them when basses of that vintage were selling in the $400-$600 range. Could have sold them for much more later if I'd held onto them!
Thankfully, I still have my first bass - an outstanding Yamaha BB300 - so no got-rid-of-my-first-bass regrets.

Looking back, I shoulda just stuck it under the bed for a few years until I could figure out what was wrong w/ it; can those (type of) pickups go microphonic? 'Cause they sure sounded bad...

| | Coffee is a state of mind. | | Join Date: Oct 2007 Location: Bergen County, New Jersey | | | I have bought and sold A LOT if basses, but there is only one I wish I never had sold.
Fernandes. Vertigo, nothing super exotic, or pricy, per say; but a unique bass to be sure. 4-string, funky-looking bass, most folks would mistake it for a coffee table; but it rocked. Had a single fat soapbsr p'up. I had it customized, frets ripped put and the neck replaned. Threw a D-drop bass extender on it.
I had a lot if fun with it and sold it in a foolish moment - if somebody ever turned up with it, I'd have to try and buy it back!

Both I traded away at separate times for some crap I no longer have. GAS can be a terrible thing and I regret that I didn't keep them around.
