Typically go with John Stirratt of Wilco these days:
The DS'd Lakland rock bass
And the Club Honfer thump bass
Speaking of thump, really into the sweet flatwound / shortscale thumpy lines from Deck d'Arcy in Phoenix lately
Oh and Nate Query of The Decemberist and Black Prairie another fav with the ever-popular Lakland/Aggie match up:

I think there's too many for a picture of all of them, so here's a picture of Ten Tonne Dozer in a very small pub (they've done a few tours around the UK and some of mainland Europe too) |

A few have used Alembic and Hofner. Some now also use Warwick, Lakland and Sadowsky.

Orange, Hiwatt, etc. amps. He owns a very distinctive tone that no one seems to copy.

Here are some I like though but I am not sure what all of them play?
Duff McKagen (former bassist of G N' R). I'm not surewhat basses he uses but I have always liked his style of playing.
Michael Anthony (former bassist of Van Halen) I know he has played Music Man basses in the past but I am not sure what else he plays?
David Bach from Guardian. I know he was endorsed by Carvin basses and amps. He is no longer endorsed by them but I think he still uses their stuff.
Jason Newsted (former bassist of Metallica) I have no clue what he plays?
Mike Grato (former bassist of Crystavox, Deliverance and Recon) I know at one time he played B.C. Rich and had a few other basses but I don't remember what brands?
Ronnie Cates (former bassist of Petra) I know he played quite a few basses. Kubicki was one of them and because of how he would play that specific bass, he had me gassing for one bad. He is another bass player that I really like.
Any Robbins of Holy Soldier. Yes I know they were a Christian glam metal band from the late 80's and early 90's but I did like some of his bass work. I guess he plays Spector basses and Fender basses.
Then there is myself. I like the work that I do. For the last 17 years I have played Ibanez Soundgear basses but just recently I have added Music Man basses to my arsenal. | This was my post from 2 years ago but since then I have learned a ton and some of the influences have changed. The people above still stay the same though. I also know the Duff plays Fender. Not sure why I was brain farting on that 2 years ago?
I love John Myung's playing. He too plays Music Man basses. More specifically, Bongo basses, which are my personal favorite in the Music Man family.
Victor Wooten. I was watching some of his stuff last night and I sat there in awe listening to him play. I'm not sure what brand or brands he uses though. The bass he was playing did not look familiar to me.
Dave LaRue. I know this sounds bad but I honestly only started paying attention to his stuff shortly after I made my last post. I love his work too. Amazing bassist. He too is another Music Man player.
There are starting to be many others but I am at the point right now in my playing where I am starting to listen to a lot of different players and different styles so I'm sure more will be added in the future too.

| | | Seiji Kameda from Tokyo Jihen. Currently uses his Yamaha BB Custom Series, used to play a Vintage Fender Jazz and a Vintage Fender P-bass for Eb tuning. His basslines are amazing! He's also a well-known producer for many Japanese artists. |

I'll take what he does on ANY Tower Of Power song over ANY hard rock bassist ANY day of the week!
2) Roscoe Beck of Robben Ford & The Blue Line and several other bands: Fender Roscoe Beck signature models, not sure of amplification. Can't beat his two-handed work on songs like "You Cut Me To The Bone" by Robben Ford
