Band : "Les Cowboys Fringant" (French-canadian. In this band since 1997)
Bass : Musicman Sterling/Precision Bass/Double Bass (but seem to always use the Sterling live).
Amp : Past: Eden combo (2x10 inch) + 1x15 inch Now: Ampeg Head (Classic ?) + 8x10 Inch (Probably from Ampeg too)

Photos : A lot from the band here. But the first of him are here : 2rd column, 6rd picture.

Videos/Audios : All there clip are here.

Enjoy a new one !
I have to concur that he his one of the coolest bassist I ever saw! I saw them live this summer, and Jérôme was simply CRAZY! I saw him using a Gibson RD (red and black square all over it ) and what seemed to be a MusicMan, but the band was on ''En Direct de l'Univers'' during the holidays, and he had a beautiful blue Rickenbacker 4001 or 4003!

I'm not quite sure if my favourite bassist has been mentionned, did not took the time to look at the whole thread, but my biggest inspiration is Christopher Wolstenholme from Muse. He started with Bass Collection basses, before moving to Pedulla Rapture basses, before starting using Fender Jazz Bass, and he had then been using mainly those, with a Ric 4001 from time to time, as well as Status basses.
Now, he mostly uses his Signature Status as well as Jazzs and many.

He's not necessarily my favorite, but he's awesome and hasn't been mentioned yet.

Fretless Fender P, painted as matte black as possible played through an Ampeg SVT II Pro into an 810 of some kind... sounds just about as huge as Peter Murphy's ego.

Some duh ones:

Victor Wooten: Flecktones, solo - Fodera
Jaco Pastorius: Weather Report, solo - Fender
Stanely Clarke: Return to Forever, solo - Alembic
Marcus Miller: solo - Fender

Edit: How could I forget my favorite, Arne Livingston: Living Daylights (among other things) - Alembic (?)

Here's mine,

Nathan East (I know him mostly from backing Clapton and playing with Four Play)
Was very impressed with his melodic playing and great stage presence
He plays the Yamaha BB East signature model, but to be honest, I don't like that bass at all, would never even think about buying it

These two guys are definitely the most influential to my style as a bassist. Both provide pretty solid pulse-driving vibes to their songs.

Gordon Moakes: Bloc Party + Young Legionnaire: Fender P Basses

Nick O'Malley: Arctic Monkeys: Fender P Basses and Rick 3000

Another vote for Hooky. Here he is with his Eccleshall while his son Jack plays the Yamaha BB1200S. Paradox covered it all with the exception of the black Precision he played briefly when New Order got started - it mysteriously turns up at sound checks these days, but never gets played...

Glenn Hughes. He used to endorse Vigier, Manne and play many different basses. Lately he only uses his trusty P-bass.
No wonder

So hard to decide on a favourite, but I'll narrow it down to these 2.

John Deacon of Queen, most often seen with a p bass.

And Dave Hope of Kansas
I think he mostly used a p as well.

Well, as Yamahas sometimes have a "make-up overkill" - those basses are fantastic: sound, playability...

I have too many to list off...but here's wht I could think of off the top of my head-

We all know about geddy....

And Roger....

and Steve

now for the more obscure ones....

If Steve Harris were Russian, he'd be this guy- Vitaly Dubinin- Mostly P basses, once in a while a Ric. Also uses Godin acoustics.

Alik Granovskij- Used to use Rics. Currently Jazzes, ESPs, Ibanezes, and Warwicks.

Leonid Maksimov- Mostly Warwick Infinities

Vyacheslav Sihailo- Ibby's and Spectors

I'm so old and have been playing so long I no longer have a favorite bass player. When I was younger, this guy did it for me. I'm a funk player so people were confused. This guy brought it when he played. Power, growl, guts, glory, funk, attitude plus he looks so damn cool.
