What is the biggest bodied P-Bass?
I'm a big guy and I like big basses. My main bass is a Sadowsky UV70. I have a pbass and have owned a couple more but don't play them much cause they seem so small compared to my Sadowsky.
Do pbasses come in different sizes? I know Sadowsky says they're hybrid PJ has a full size body?
Any know anything about this?
P basses always seem a bit smaller to me than jazz basses, probably has to do with the body shape more than anything. I am 6'1 230 (and not fat) and I can't stand small bodied basses.
The biggest bodied P-basses would probably be early 50's reproductions with 1/4" edge radius, and no belly/arm contours.
Benavente used to offer this, calling it the "51 model". I have a pair of 5 string 51 models (below), they were also available in 4 string (and maybe 6). The blocky body does appear larger than a normal P-bass. They are also weighty, and have big chunky necks to match (a good thing in my book). I no longer see them on the website (www.benaventeguitars.com) -- the relic P-bass shown on the "Classic" page has contouring and a 1/2" edge radius making it similar to modern P-basses. But you could contact the shop to see if they can make you a 51 model.
My Hoppus P has a Jazz body.
Any P bass in white. As white makes the body look bigger!
If you're talking Fenders, the P body is smaller than the J body. If you like big basses, stick with the J body.
The Mike Dirnt Precision has a 51 slab body lacking any contours, so it feels bigger. It also features a thick C-shaped neck giving it the feel of a Louisville Slugger. Although as previously stated the J features a larger body than the P.
My Schecter Model-T is the biggest
bodied P-Bass I have ever played.
It looks huge when I see pictures
of myself playing it.
It big...... or it just seems that way.
Yep. Sadowsky hybrid is the same size as a 60's Fender
The Dingwall Super P is bigger than a standard Fender Precision. Not sure how much though.
