Aborting practicing because of a repair sounds really bad to me (not having enough time to practice bass or not). |

It's not hard and can be fun. These are the reasons I feel it's always better to have 2 basses, even if one is just a $90 beater.

| | | | I first take my electric (or acoustic/electric) guitar and crank the lows and use the neck pickup with the tone at 2 or 3. Then I palm mute and play with my thumb for a few minutes. Then i put my guitar down.
Then i go on talkbass for what seems like an eternity. ::hide:: |

I gotta say, I'm getting a bit frustrated with this shop. I think I may change what shop I go to, so to East Valley Arizonans: if you don't do your own work on your basses, where do you take them?

it's supposed to take two to three weeks
| I do my own setups, but if I was having it done, I’d take it to someone who would do it the same day or at least the next day.
PS: while you’re waiting, maybe work on your sight reading skills. Quote:

There's loads of resources on the web for setting up a bass. Don't be afraid of experimenting, there isn't much were you can really break your bass.

In my area, there have been several local techs that advertise on craigslist.
Of all places, the closest Guitar Center once gave me a freebie setup voucher. Now, I always do my own, but I thought this one time heck why not. They have an outside guy that comes in and works in their 'repair shop' a few days a week, and he did a fantastic job on my bass. So my guitarist has been taking his axes to him and is happy.
A setup doesn't take more than an hour and a half to do on a bass that doesn't have uneven/worn frets. | | Thread Tools | Search this Thread | | | |
