what do you keep in your bass case?

Sign in to disble this ad
My new schecter came with a very nice hardshell case, and its got compartments for all kinds of things, but im not sure what to put in them, so far i have a strap, tuner, and strings/stringwinder. what do you keep in your case? and what kinds of guitar polish/cleaner will fit in a case and not ruin my bass, im searously worried about destroying my beautiful schecter.

Maybe add a clean soft cloth for wipe downs and polishing. Anything in the case compartments is seperated from bass. so anything in them wont be banging up against the bass when carting case around.

Make a little tool kit with the allen wrenches you need to do a setup, a few precision screwdrivers (or jazz screwdrivers if you insist), some 9 volts and batteries for your tuner, a bottle opener, a small knife and a soft cloth. I don't really go for guitar polishes and such as I think they are kind of a scam, but a decent tack cloth will work fine for removing smudges and fingerprints. This is generally what I keep in my case.

A bass with strap attached, usually a pick or two.

Just the bass. Everything else goes a small duffle bag.

I keep an extra set of strings. You never know what will happen at a gig. +1 to extra battery for an active bass, multi tool , & wipedown cloth. I leave my guitar polish at home, but if you do decide to bring it in the extras compartment, putting it in a tightly sealing sandwich bag would keep it from getting all over the place, should the container leak.

Hardshell case sits in garage unused. Softshell case has stomp tuner and short cable in top pocket, large pocket has cable, towel, maybe some papers & pencil. I keep my bass very clean but never use polish--don't want it to get on strings.

Don't forget a lighter. It's not really bass related, but every man worth his manhood should have access to a blade and fire at all times.

I don't know this from personal experience, of course, but I've heard that back in the '70s, players used to put tightly sealing sandwich bags containing herbal substances in the case compartment.

Double bass gigbag = main bass, backup bass, picks, earplugs, wrist band, strap, spare strap, Zoom Q3HD, Zoom AC adapter, Genz Benz Shuttle 6.0

This is the gigbag I use but want to upgrade to something thicker.

I usually just put my basses in their hardcases without anything else.
I put all my leads, power boards, Straps, a set of strings, a Tuner, a couple of 9V batteries, a little tool kit, a cloth and my D.I in a milk crate. Which i then use to get my amp off the ground at gigs.
If its a short gig or a session, i put my bass in a softcase with 2 instrument leads, a strap, a set of strings, a tuner and some spare batteries.

Just the strap for the bass, and a Herco guitar humidifier - the little clay jar type (very dry in Denver).
Tools, batteries, set lists & strings go in an anvil briefcase, and cables go in a padded Moog gig bag.

Usually I put a bass in there...

And an instrument cable, tuner, power cable to my amp, chord charts/music if needed, strap, dead bodies, and my Game Boy on occasion.
