What do you think?

I'm thinking of getting an Ibanez-style body (maybe a G5 body from Warmoth). But I only want one pickup.

I've messed around in MS paint with a few things, but I'm not sure what would look good. I'm thinking either a split coil or a soapbar, some sort of humbucker. What do you think would look good right inbetween the neck heel and the bridge?

If you're going to design a bass and wanted a suggestion for a certain pick-up, a soapbar pick-up or a musicman-styled pick-up would be a great choice for that. placing it on the bridge position would give you a great sound. I've owned bass guitars that has one soapbar pick-up on the bridge pick-up and they sounded pretty cool.

Maybe this is too much of a "duh" suggestion--and just ignore me if it is--but if you're going to get a MM pickup, why not aim for the sweet spot that they use? It's not right in between, it's a little more bridge-ward. I've heard soapbars can be good there, too.

This pickup would look very nice:

here is my gecko6 with a sd active (split coil) soapbar at the MM sweet spot.

I don't like the bridge pickup tone. I like it right in the middle, or possibly more towards the neck, actually.

I never see Ibanez style bodies used, but who knows maybe I'll find one.

An MM style pickup might look better, not sure.
