What finish was used on 1990s MIM Fender basses?

Do any of you Fender bass wizards know definitively what kind of finish was used on 1990s Mexican Fender guitars and basses? I've got a few mid to late 90s basses and I'm curious... Was it a polyurethane fisnish like the 70s/80s instruments or the polyester they are currently using? And does anyone know when they switched from polyurethane to polyester?
Thanks!

Polyester. Pretty sure the Mexican plant never sprayed anything else
