I'm selling 5 basses.....

I will be left with:
Peavey Foundation 5
Memphis P clone
Warwick Corvette 5

Which translates to:
Jazz
Precision
'Ray (with options)

GO FIGURE!!!! I end up with the generic meat N potatoes collection

I hate the way the Warwick looks, but love the way it sounds.....the only flaw in my gear collection. lol

I don't think your Peavey or your Wick quite equal a J and a Ray.

I've had a Foundation 5 and it is in the J ballpark, but the pickups are much closer to the bridge I believe.

Yeah yea yea!

Maybe not classically the same, but similar.

Tried to love a couple Fenders now, and I just can't do it.
Worse Low B strings in the business.
Tried to love a Stingray, but that was just a love/hate relationship that lasted way longer that it should have. You can search here and see me forcing myself to like it.

Gotta love the adventure in gear hoarding!

What do you hate about the looks of the Vette? The dill d'oh look?

the dildabass part is my FAVORITE part.

kidding.....the streamer looks much much better to me.....the Vette just looks awkward. I got it in a trade, and ended up liking it.
I'd get rid of it for a streamer, but I'm afraid to let go of such a nice playing bass. My luck, I'd trade/sell and hate it.

You've got what you need covered, I'm sure. And if those aren't EXACTLY the archetypal basses, so what? You can do whatever you need with that very well-rounded family. And I happen to think a Peavey can substitute for (maybe even EXCEED?) a Fender just fine because I'm using a Fury instead of a P right now and I've got no complaints. I'm sure you feel the same way about your Memphis.

Enjoy them!

I'm not too concerned about headstock brand names......I've played the Foundy for a while now. It's been my #1.
I reset up the Memphis P and love it now.....#1 as well.

It's just odd going from 8 to 3.
I'm going to miss those basses.....I'm starting to get anxious about selling them.

Well, everything is nearly gone.

T-40 and Standard going out next week.

I'll be left with the Foundy, Memphis P, Wick Corvette $$ 5 and I decided to hang on to the RD Artist for now.

How can you have TWO number ones?!?!?

I've played a few Memphis P and J clones and some of the older more lawsuit-type ones can be really good. One of my favorite bassists, David Wm. Sims, has for decades played an old Memphis J clone, and he takes it all over the world. He has only modded it when something craps out on it and has to be replaced.

As for feeling anxiety about slimming down your collection, just put more time and energy into playing and enjoying what you DO have.

While that may be a rhetorical question, if you play in multiple bands, it is easy to have multiple first-call instruments.

Try a different translator; that's not even close.

All of my basses are #1..

Really?
It's a heck of a nice bass....never heard of it otherwise.

It's true. I suck at playing...gear is so much easier.
