What makes it not so nice to play?
To the op, with the proper setup to your preference and after about 10 or 15 minutes of playing it you will get a better understanding that the fan frets are not that big of an obstacle.
Here I am playing a 6 string Dingwall (thru a envelope filter). http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vk7cNPRTpyM

Plus, i wanted a bass with a bolt-on neck and maple fretboard. The fanned frets is just a question of getting used to it, its not much of a problem to me. |

If you look away and just play, it's easy and very natural. |

Is that an older Voodoo Prima? Does it have the Barts or FDs? Love the color!

It's all original with Bart pickups and Bart pre. I had the opportunity to put in the FD pickups but I felt that since it's not broken no need to change out the pickups. And thanks for digging the color.
Just a few days ago a friend of mine who has a 6 string Voodoo took out the pre and installed a Lakland LH3 pre. I have not heard the bass yet with this pre in it. |

I feel the same way on the Barts as per my pre-fire Voodoo. I kind of dig that it's different from the newer ones. Although, couple of dudes over on the Dingwall forum have swapped out the barts for FD3s and the bart pre for an aggie pre. (OPB-2 or 3 I think). They seem to really like it better.
I'm going to leave mine stock for now, and really sample the vibe for a while.
Love the voodoo body style, too. Very unique with the cello cut. And yeah, Sheldon does some killer blues for sure. Quote:
